Zombie Piranha Kickstarter Preparations

Final preparations are underway to launch the Zombie Piranha kickstarter. The game by Appy Times Software Ltd and Putty CAD is nearly completed but we need to secure funding for the final push so we can spend time updating the graphics, building more levels, getting the game onto as many systems as possible, and marketing. The game will be initially published on Android and then on ios, windows 8 and other systems depending on level of funding reached. We will be starting our goals for android and offering other systems as stretch goals to allow us to test each system thoroughly before release.

Rewards will start at just ONE British Pound which will get your name as a supporter on a digital poster featuring all the game characters which will be free to download. Rewards also include the game itself, beta access, in-game credits and even a chance to have your face on one of the in-game characters!

All will be revealed at launch but please help us to spread the word about our upcoming game and follow us on social media. Remember to tell your chums too!

Please bookmark the sites below to keep up with things!

Zombie Piranha Updates

Working on zombie Piranha updates, the game is playable and the power ups are in, now the hard work begins, level designs and a huge graphics overhaul! Our most ambitious mobile game yet. The characters have three layers of damage and the game has different modes such as "Fin-durance" (endless swimming with amazing powerups and retro arcade style gameplay) or you can "Chews a level" to collect star-fish on various difficult set leveles. Also watch out for the "Bone-us" round! :D Chumming soon to mobiles and other platforms! :D www.appytimes.co.uk www.puttycad.co.uk

Jack the Nipper

Over the weekend I revisited Jack The Nipper, a game I was really fond of growing up.

In 2003 I made a demo level of the first screen as a tribute to Gremlin Graphic's original.

10 years later here is a new updated version of the same screen...

Zool fan art and Monty Mole artwork from the Games Britannia Game Jams

Don't think I posted these images before, but I was invited to help out at the Games Britannia 2013 Game Jam. Following the success of the 2012 one where I helped out with some Monty Mole games for the schools taking part in the competition. Being an avid fan and sometimes retro-remaker of the beloved Gremlin Graphics games I grew up playing in the 80s, I jumped at the chance to share my passion for the games with others and lent my skills as a graphic artist to help out the kids with their games.

A vectorised version of the old Gremlin Logo.

Monty Mole returns to help Monty Mole Jr in the apocalypse!

Monty Mole Jr sets off on his adventures.

For 2013 the theme was switched to another of Gremlins heroes... Zool. I worked on box art this time, the kids were even more enthusiastic this time and they had created some amazing artwork, so my part of the jam was mainly doing layout work for them which was great fun and gave them a lot of pride to see their work on the boxes.

Before the Jam I created a quick vector version of the Zool artwork from the original box for fun (like you do!) :D I didn't use this but thought I'd share it on my blog anyway...

The original box artwork.

My vector version Fan Art.

I was a huge fan of Gremlin Games and look forward to seeing what else they resurrect in the future and hopefully we will see new titles appear from their brilliant archive of games with character. I would especially love to see the return of Jack The Nipper! (Maybe next time?..)

Monday - a twoodle by Ric

What's a Twoodle I hear you ask? It's a Twitter doodle! This is the first one, but probably not the last.

I overheard a twitter conversation by top game-devs Simon @Barog Barratt and Byron @Xiotex Atkinson-Jones which made me chuckle so much I decided to turn it into a cartoon strip, thankfully they both enjoyed it and didn't throw me to the twolves! So without further ado, here it is...
