Share Some Secrets - supporting Barnardos

The book I illustrated for Christina Gabbitas (www.poemsandpictures.co.uk) Share Some Secrets (www.sharesomesecrets.com) which deals with the delicate subject of child abuse is supporting Barnardo's in their 150th Anniversary year. A new version has been printed especially to coincide with this. The book has been praised by the NSPCC and is also available in their library.

Christina will be signing the book at various locations in the coming weeks along with the Felicity Fly series and children's poetry books.

New book for 2016 - Dinki - Mount Boom

Started the new year with a new book. I had the idea for Mount Boom a while ago a tale where the valley where Dinki lives and the local nursery for dino eggs is threatened by the volcanic eruptions of Mount Boom. As if that wasn't enough to contend with, could there really be fire breathing monsters beneath the mountain?

I'll be releasing new panels for the story every Friday in 2016 to keep the book moving and allow time for my other work, so there should be around 2-3 pages a month.

Children's Poems book wins TPBP Beryl Bainbridge Award for Best First Time Author

The book Ric Lumb illustrated for Christina Gabbitas, Poems and Pictures Has won the TPBP Beryl Bainbridge Award for Best First Time Author from The-Peoples-Book-Prize. Christina set up the children's poems initiative and invited school children to submit their own poems to appear in the book. The initiative creates around 50 new young authors every year who are thrilled to see their poems in print. Now in it's third year with a new book being released in the autumn.

Putty CAD games

I have set up a new Putty CAD google play account where we will be re-submitting the best of the Appy Times games along with some totally new ones!

The first two games announced this week are:

Panda Cars - An retro styled endurance racing game.

and Dinki Eggs - A match 3 puzzle game based on the "Dinki" comics by Ric

They will hopefully be submitted for general release on Google Play towards the end of the week and will be shown at the upcoming GA_MA_YO event in Leeds on Thursday.

The book is a story about Santa and friends, when the North Pole gets an unwelcome visitor in the shape of a fire breathing dragon he must find a brave knight to save Christmas. High Spirits - a comic strip by Ric

I entered the Jameson Whiskey Bursery challenge with my Oo? cartoon strip, unfortunately it was rejected due to the target market being too young to comply with advertising rules. So over the weekend I racked my brains and literally turned to booze for a more mature cartoon strip idea. Here I present HIGH SPIRITS about a group of bottles containing real spirits. If it gets greenlit I envisage a longer story made up of multiple 3-6 panel strips taking Whiskers and Ginny and their friends on a worldwide Booze Crooze, where they will encounter dangerous dangers and Rum bottle pirates! Ahoy me mateys! Wish us luck!

Dinki comics #11 & #12 are now uploaded!

It feels like the end of an era, now that the final two comics are up! I'm not sure where Dinki will go next, but there is a little game planned and I hope to start writing some childrens books using the characters created during the daily doodles. I can't thank the kickstarter backers enough for supporting me to get this personal project out there! It's nice to look back to the first issues and see how the story has progressed and the characters have developed. I hope everybody enjoyed seeing the doodles and I brightened up a few peoples days with the stories!

Here's to 2014! Let's see what happens next!
